In Memory of MLK and Other Random Stuff

Around this time of year we remember Martin Luther King Jr. and the kids study a little bit about him in school. So, we were in the car yesterday and our conversation went like this. . .

Ben: "Mom, do you know who Martin Luther King Jr. is?"

Mom: "Yes", I reply, "do you?"

Ben: "Ya, he is that guy with dark skin and when he went to get a drink of water, they told him that it was only for the white people."

Mom: "Yes, that is sad isn't it that people weren't nice to him."

Emma piped up at this point and in all seriousness added: "Ya, if I were him, I would be REALLY thirsty!"

I got a kick out of it and thought you would too!

In other news:

ERICK IS POTTY TRAINED!!! We are all so proud and happy for him. I am a big believer in waiting until they are three or at least very close to three. It only took him a few days and he is really doing great! Only having one in daipers now has been really nice! Way to go Erick.

On that note, the other day Erick was watching noggin and Moose A. Moose was telling the kids that his name is Moose A. Moose and then asked the kids out there what their name is. Well, Erick who has many nicknames said "Papa" which is what we all call him. Then, he added to that, "Papa Halloween", then he said "no, Papa Ghost." Yes everyone, he is still obsessed with Halloween, I don't know if he will ever get over it!

Back to Emma. This morning, I went to the 5:15 am cycle class at the gym. I returned home at 6:50 and went to wake up the kids for school. I found that the boys were not in their room (they love to come in our room and lay with us for a few minutes and let me tell you we love it too!!! NOT!) But, I did find Emma in the boys room making their beds and tidying up the entire room!!! She said "Mom, please don't tell Ben I did this." My heart was touched, she truly is a sweet girl and very thoughtful. It was a nice thing to come home to and Don and I had a fun time thinking about it all day!

Not much to report about Ben, he is doing great and growing a lot! He is excited about his upcoming birthday and talks about his big plans for the day. He has enough plans to have his birthday last for a week! I can't believe he will be 6!!!

Miss Camille is just full throttle all the time, she is totally high spirits one minute and then totally freaking out the next! She keeps us giggling all the time! She is very vocal and is saying many words! She LOVES getting dressed up and she steals everyone's shoes and tromps around in them all day! She just wants to be one of the big kids! Today, she climbed up the play set in the backyard for the first time all by herself! I am not ready for that, it means I have to be outside with her now and protect her from falling! Why can't she stay my baby for awhile? She is a sweet girl.

I got a job (if you can call it that) at the gym. I wanted to have a free membership and get discounts and things, so I am going to teach a cheerleading class once a week for 40 minutes. It is perfect because I can put the kids in the child care while I teach and Emma actually gets to be my helper. It should be fun. Sorry I haven't blogged in awhile, just wanted to give you a quick update!
