Well, I had fun last week! My sister Jan graduated with her masters degree from the University of Utah in social work and I got to go and surprise her and spend that time with her and my parents. It was my Mom's idea and Don was able to work it out at work so that I could go and her could take care of the kiddos. I did take Camille with me and she was a dream baby! She had such fun and really was so good!
I left on Wednesday the 2nd and as Don described below it was during severe weather and much stress, but after a few minor delays, Cami and I were on our way. We got in at about midnight and my mom was there to pick us up and take us to the hotel to surprise my sister and Dad. They were surprised to say the least and very excited! We got Cami to bed and slept in the next morning. We had very full days of driving and seeing the beautiful campus, going to Jan's school graduation and then the big general graduation at which President Monson was the key-note speaker. We cheered very loud for Jan and Cami clapped and cheered not just for Jan but for everyone! She was so cute and everywhere we went, people were attracted to her like a magnet and couldn't get over how happy and cute she is.
We ate at Cafe Rio (everyone's fav), and enjoyed my Dad's cousin's wedding reception at the Joseph Smith Memorial building, had fun at Jan's friend's Denet's native american graduation feast, ate and ate and ate again! Ya, I am going to have to hit that bike hard to work it all off! We went to Costco and found "Shade" shirts (a true mormon thing) 2 for $13.99, a true bargain only in Utah! We enjoyed touring Olympic Park in Park City where they do the luge, bobsled and downhill skiing. On that day, it was freezing cold and snowing but the tour was worth it and my dad stayed with Camille in the museum! It was so fun and I recommend taking that tour if you get the chance.
We kind of enjoyed our massages at the massage school until Jan and I found out that Mom had gotten vertigo when they turned her over during her massage. It was a real bummer and she was pretty much out for the rest of the trip. She was a trooper tho and made it through some games of settlers and lots of talking. She is a sweetheart and it was hard to see her like that, she gets hit very hard with it. She did get to hold Camille a lot and play with and enjoy her. Luckily, the vertigo hit after all the graduations and major important stuff was over. Mom and Dad had come from 2 weeks in Florida (no, not a pleasure trip), they had been taking care of Jessen and Linda's family as Linda had just had a new baby. So, they are happy to be home now in Boise to some peace and quiet. They are so wonderful to help all of us and to be so supportive. I appreciate them so much and so glad they included Camille and I in this adventure. I am sure proud of Jan and I know she will be so great in her field. Way to go Jan!!! I will post pictures later on, I have to get them from Jan first, she took them all as I didn't take my camera with me.
Oh, I musn't forget, a big thanks to Don for holding up the fort here at home! He was wonderful! I came home to a welcome home sign and pictures from all the kids. The house was mopped and vacuumed and the laundry was all done! He is amazing. He seemed totally unruffled and went on to fix dinner for us and put the kids to bed. Maybe I should leave more often????
