A Note to the Tooth Fairy

Emma had another tooth fall out tonight. She decided to be a little more bold in her latest letter to the Tooth Fairy.

In case you have a hard time reading it, the last two questions are: Do you have pink shoes? Are they sparkly?

Erick = Lemonhead

Jill couldn't quite put her finger on it, but she knew Erick reminded her of some icon ... she finally realized it was the original Lemonhead Boy.

Mothers Day 2003, my how they have changed!!!

Those bows get me everytime!

I don't know what it is, but, WOW babies are so cute with bows in their hair! And, I don't know what it is about dads taking them out the second they can! Don insists that the bow is squishing Cami's brain! There is a random thought for you!

I wanted to wish a happy mothers day to my wonderful mother (Sandie) and to my wonderful mother in law (Charlene). These are two women that I love dearly and I can always count on no matter what. It is such a blessing to have them in my life. Also a happy mothers day to my sisters-in-law! I appreciate all the wonderful examples I have around me that help me want to be a better mother!

Summer is approaching on us, Don got his first sun-burn of the year when he mowed the lawn on Saturday. It took him 2 hours, we have a huge lawn and need a riding lawn mower bad! Anyway, Texas summers are lots of fun (I am being sarcastic!), they are fun, just really really hot. Ben finishes preschool this week and I am very sad because he has had such a great year and loves his friends and teachers. Emma's school is over next week and then summer will begin! I am looking forward to not having to wake Emma up for school and pushing her to get out the door on time. It will be nice to have nothing to do, but then I know come July, I will be ready for back to school! Ben will get to start kindergarten this next school year, HOORAY! He is so ready!

Erick and Cami are both doing great, Erick is starting to talk all the time! Well, that is all for now! I am including our mothers day pic from 2003 so you can see how the two older kiddos have changed! I think we should do one of these each year!

Salt Lake City and the MASTER!!

Well, I had fun last week! My sister Jan graduated with her masters degree from the University of Utah in social work and I got to go and surprise her and spend that time with her and my parents. It was my Mom's idea and Don was able to work it out at work so that I could go and her could take care of the kiddos. I did take Camille with me and she was a dream baby! She had such fun and really was so good!

I left on Wednesday the 2nd and as Don described below it was during severe weather and much stress, but after a few minor delays, Cami and I were on our way. We got in at about midnight and my mom was there to pick us up and take us to the hotel to surprise my sister and Dad. They were surprised to say the least and very excited! We got Cami to bed and slept in the next morning. We had very full days of driving and seeing the beautiful campus, going to Jan's school graduation and then the big general graduation at which President Monson was the key-note speaker. We cheered very loud for Jan and Cami clapped and cheered not just for Jan but for everyone! She was so cute and everywhere we went, people were attracted to her like a magnet and couldn't get over how happy and cute she is.

We ate at Cafe Rio (everyone's fav), and enjoyed my Dad's cousin's wedding reception at the Joseph Smith Memorial building, had fun at Jan's friend's Denet's native american graduation feast, ate and ate and ate again! Ya, I am going to have to hit that bike hard to work it all off! We went to Costco and found "Shade" shirts (a true mormon thing) 2 for $13.99, a true bargain only in Utah! We enjoyed touring Olympic Park in Park City where they do the luge, bobsled and downhill skiing. On that day, it was freezing cold and snowing but the tour was worth it and my dad stayed with Camille in the museum! It was so fun and I recommend taking that tour if you get the chance.

We kind of enjoyed our massages at the massage school until Jan and I found out that Mom had gotten vertigo when they turned her over during her massage. It was a real bummer and she was pretty much out for the rest of the trip. She was a trooper tho and made it through some games of settlers and lots of talking. She is a sweetheart and it was hard to see her like that, she gets hit very hard with it. She did get to hold Camille a lot and play with and enjoy her. Luckily, the vertigo hit after all the graduations and major important stuff was over. Mom and Dad had come from 2 weeks in Florida (no, not a pleasure trip), they had been taking care of Jessen and Linda's family as Linda had just had a new baby. So, they are happy to be home now in Boise to some peace and quiet. They are so wonderful to help all of us and to be so supportive. I appreciate them so much and so glad they included Camille and I in this adventure. I am sure proud of Jan and I know she will be so great in her field. Way to go Jan!!! I will post pictures later on, I have to get them from Jan first, she took them all as I didn't take my camera with me.

Oh, I musn't forget, a big thanks to Don for holding up the fort here at home! He was wonderful! I came home to a welcome home sign and pictures from all the kids. The house was mopped and vacuumed and the laundry was all done! He is amazing. He seemed totally unruffled and went on to fix dinner for us and put the kids to bed. Maybe I should leave more often????

We Survived

It was a frightful storm last night. The late afternoon was quiet with lots of grey clouds overhead. But by the time dinner time rolled around, it became quite dark. We were watching TV when I heard a humming sound outside. I stepped onto the back patio and observed the very dark and heavy clouds moving in from the west. The humming was the sounds of several tornado sirens througout the city.

In a matter of minutes, the wind picked up considerablly and the rain was torrential. All I could think about was the many surivor stories of people who lived through a tornado ... the description I've heard over and over is that a tornado sounds like a train passing by.

We turned to the weather channel and saw that we were under a severe weather and tornado warning. I looked out the windows to the west and saw that the wind was so fierce that I could see them moving. I went outside again and it was frightful. I came back inside and moved the family to the bathroom for a few minutes. Erick wasn't feeling too well and had been crying. While we were in the bathroom, he threw up. Jill cleaned him up and I took the kids into the other room. We waited for the storm to pass and eventually it calmed down a bit, but it was still a strong storm.

About 20 minutes later, we took Jill to the airport. Dozens of flights were cancelled and delayed, but Jill made it to SLC just fine.

I remember the first April we spent here in Texas that there were a few frightful storms that worried me. The one last night was the worst I've seen and even topped those big storms back in 2001.

Two people died from lightening and one died when her car became submerged in water. About 300,000 lost power and many homes lost trees and chimney's and windows. Our home was undamaged.
