January Update

We're in a lull right now. We're waiting to hear back on a few things about two homes we're considering. Once we decide, life will get quite busy for us until we settle in our new home (sometime around the 2nd week of February).

So while we're waiting and while work is slow, I thought I'd type up our newsletter.

Florida was great. We left on December 21st at 3am. The kids did great. They watched movies, fought, dumped milk, cried, slept, watched more movies and asked (every 10 minutes), "are we there yet?" We bought an over-head bag to put some luggage and presents in. Unfortunatly we drove in heavy rain most of the way. Thankfully, the presents weren't damaged, but just damp. We had a re-wrap a few, but they made it. On the way home, we just dumped everything inside the van.

We spent Christmas with Jill's brother and the rest of her family in Tallahassee. It was warm and humid there. There were even some tornados just north of Tallahassee. The kids had lots of fun with their cousins and aunts and uncles and their grandparents. After Christmas, we drove to Panama City Beach and spent a week there. It was a little cold at first, but by Thursday it was really nice. We played lots of shuffle-board, swam in the hot-tub (in the 50-degree weather), visited the beach, ate and golfed. It was a fun vacation.

The ride home was a little better. We made it in good time.

While we were in Florida, we got our first offer on our home. By the time we got back, we had a 2nd offer. The 2nd offer won out and now we're in the option period with a closing date on January 31. Like I said, we've whittled our search down to two homes. Hopefully Jill can make up her mind and we'll be able to close :-) It really is a tough decision.

Emma is doing great in school. Her report cards are good and she's learning a lot. One of the reason the home decision is tough is because one of the homes is in a different zone for schools and would require Emma to change schools. She's not too keen on that idea, but we're prepping her for the worst.

Ben is doing great in pre-k. He always loves school. We think he's rather bored at home and needs school to keep him from being bored. Whenever he's bored, he says, "I'm hungry!!" He's constantly in the kitchen.

Erick is getting taller. He still runs and skips whereever he goes. He finally is doing well in nursury. The secret is that he'd rather be in the class with the male teacher. His vocabulary continues to grow and he's a very happy kid.

Camille is putting on the pounds. She's drinking lots of milk and starting to eat cereal. It's just amazing how much she's grown. She's coming up on 6 months in a couple of weeks. She LOVES to smile. She laughs and smiles all the time.

Jill enjoys her cycling class. She's been doing the Shangri-la diet and is shedding pounds every day. She too is looking forward to getting in our new home and having some breathing room with 4 kids to watch.

As for me ... I'm just glad to be done with school. Work goes well too.

Have a great month everyone! We'll post pictures of our new place (if and when it all happens!)
