The kids started helping me build the castle, but eventually they left to go do something else. Then they'd come back and help dig a little more. I stayed at it most of the morning and relieved a lot of stress by digging up that sand and fortifying that castle. I kept telling Jill that I should have grown up on the beach. Admittedly, the most fun on the trip for me was building that sand castle while listening to the waves crash.

Surfside Beach
So I've been itching to go to the beach for several weeks now. We finally made a reservation for a motel and drove down to Surfside Friday night and then spent the night and most of the next day on the beach. It was really nice. We had the beach to ourselves Friday night and most of Saturday morning. But by about 11am, there were lots and lots of people pulling onto the beach. We had tons of fun and it was so relaxing. Jill and I decided that this is going to be a family tradition.
