Rhyme
Sunday evening we were having FHE. Jill was teaching about being kind to others. Towards the end of the lesson, we sang the song "Kindness Begins with Me" which goes:
I want to be kind to ev'ryone,
For that is right, you see.
So I say to myself, "Remembers this:
Kindness begins with me."
After the song, Jill asks the question, "why do we say "kindness begins with me?" Obviously she was looking for an answer that deals with us choosing to be kind to others first, but Emma instead said, "Because it makes the song rhyme!"
Hotel Smell
This morning I slept in and therefore I was around while the kids were getting ready for the day. While we were kneeling down for family prayer, Emma said, "Dad, you smell good! You smell like a hotel."

One Year Old
It's hard to believe our blog is one year old! It seems like just yesterday I was setting up this blog to share pictures and such. In fact, if you go click on our archives on October 2005, you'll notice some pictures of when we went to the Pumpkin Patch last year. Pay particular attention to what Emma and Ben were wearing in 2005 ... they wore the same shirts to the Pumpkin Patch this year too. I guess it's funny to me, because Ben ALWAYS wears that football shirt of his. He wears it 6 times a week.
Anyway ... we're doing well. The kids are doing great.
Emma is a little speller ... she's gotten 102's on all of her spelling tests so far. She loves to read and is often sitting on the couch reading a book.
Ben loves pre-school and is a great and smart student. He always pays attention to details. At the pumpkin patch, Jill had to feed Camille, so she just stayed in the car to feed her. I took the other kids on over to the pumpkins. When we got there, Ben asked where mom is. I told him she had to feed Camille. Most kids would be satisfied with that answer. But Ben came back with a follow-up question ... "where is she going to feed her?"
Erick never stops running. Seriously ... he hardly walks ... it's always a run or a skip. His vocabulary continues to expand. This week he picked up "cereal" and "grandpa/grandma."
Camille is smiling and giggling now. Everyone thinks she has such fine features. We love her so much.
Jill is surviving. She goes to the gym every night now and is starting to shed pounds.
As for me ... I'm pretty much done with school. I was released from Sunbeams and called as a ward missionary. I'm back to playing in on-line chess tournaments in my spare time ... what little there is.
Have a great October everyone!
